Mark your calendar for May 4-6, because the Shaky Knees Music Festival is back for another full weekend of music at Central Park. Jack White, Queens of the Stone Age, and The National will headline a lineup of more than 60 regional and national acts across several genres, including world-renowned artists as well as up-and-coming bands.

Here’s your guide for how to be fully prepared for the weekend, and how to make the most of the festival when you’re there:

Tickets

Before buying anything, consult the festival schedule. If all your favorite bands are playing on Saturday, a 1-day ticket could be a good money and time saving option that will allow you to experience the single day of the festival you want to attend. Otherwise, 3-day general admission tickets will give you access to the whole weekend of music, as well as food, drink, and merch vendors.

If you’re willing to cough up some additional dough for a more glamorous and comfortable festival experience, a VIP ticket gets you unlimited access to the VIP lounge, a viewing platform with premium sightlines, complimentary beer and appetizers, a cash liquor bar, and air conditioned restrooms.

While Craigslist and ticket brokerage sites may offer substantial discounts, there are a lot of counterfeit tickets out there, so your safest bet is purchasing tickets directly from the festival website.

Who’s playing?

Jack White will headline Friday, a day that will also see bands such as Fleet Foxes, Jimmy Eat World and Franz Ferdinand perform.

On Saturday, you can see Queens of the Stone Age, Cake, The War on Drugs and many more.

On the last day of the festival The National will headline with acts such as Tenacious D and All Time Low playing throughout the day,

Festival Do’s and Don’ts

Don’t bring a backpack. Bags will be limited to small purses and drawstring bags without any additional pockets.

Do stay hydrated. The weekend is guaranteed to be hot and you don’t want to end up in the medical tent. Camelbacks, aluminum bottles, and factory sealed plastic water bottles are permitted inside the grounds and can be refilled at stations within the festival.

Don’t forget sunscreen. Again, it will be hot and shade will be very limited. Be sure to opt for the lotion kind though, as aerosol spray cans will be prohibited.

Do pace yourself. There’s a lot of music to see, but the festival consists of three long, hot days, and you don’t want to be burned out and exhausted by the time your favorite act takes the stage. Make time to enjoy a vegetarian corn dog or some southern BBQ from one of the local Atlanta food vendors, and maybe even enjoy a quick nap in the shade between sets.

Transportation, Hours, and Parking

The festival is located at Central Park, in the Old Fourth Ward. Doors will open at 11:30 each morning, with music starting at 11:45am and ending at 11pm. We highly recommend using Uber or Lyft to get to the festival, as parking in the area is limited. Central Park is also easily accessible from the North Avenue Marta Station.
