A Conversation With Zoo Atlanta CEO Raymond King

Raymond King has been President and CEO of Zoo Atlanta,since June 1, 2010. Zoo Atlanta is Atlanta’s oldest cultural institution and one of its largest. Founded in 1889, the zoo has roughly 220 employees and an annual budget of $16 million.

Decades ago, it was named one of the worst zoos in the country.

Now Zoo Atlanta has more than 1,500 animals from around the world.

Two years ago Raymond King was named president and CEO.

Since his tenure began, Zoo Atlanta has managed to stay financially steady.

Recently WABE’s Rose Scott spoke with King and their conversation begins with a look at this last fiscal year.
