Ayoka Chenzira who is bringing the novels of Pearl Cleage to the screen.
It’s a partnership that’s considered historic.
New York Times best-selling novelist and Atlanta based playwright Pearl Cleage is teaming up with award-winning filmmaker Dr. Ayoka Chenzira to adapt Cleage’s books into feature films.
Chenzira is also a professor at Spelman College.
It’s the first time two African American women will collaborate on this type of venture and Ayoka Chenzira sat down with WABE’s Rose Scott to talk about it.
Their conversation begins with Chenzira’s admiration of Pearl Cleage and their long time friendship.
