The Rich's Great Tree: An Atlanta Tradition

Since the late 1940s, one of the most iconic holiday traditions in the city of Atlanta has been the lighting of the “Rich’s Great Tree”.  The history of the beloved tree and lighting ceremony occupies an entire chapter in the 2012 book, "Rich's: A Southern Institution."  Jeffrey Clemmons is the author of the History Press paperback, and he met us for a chat at the old Rich’s building downtown.  We spoke near the so-called “crystal bridge” that once connected the main Rich’s store to its home furnishings outlet…
