Attorney General Sam Olens (R-Georgia), announces the new campaign against child sex customers at a press conference at the State Capitol on March 18, 2013. Looking on are (from left) Rep. Edward Lindsey (R-Atlanta); Rep. Buzz Brockway (R-Lawrenceville); Sally Yates, the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia; Edward J. Tarver, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia; and Michael Moore, the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia.
On Monday, March 18 at the State Capitol, Federal, state and local officials unveiled a unified campaign to target customers of the child sex trade. The campaign includes a public service announcement aimed at potential customers. There are also efforts to get men who know child sex customers to report them to authorities. But there remains the question of whether the police and agents on the front lines will get any more money and resources to help them actually track down and arrest the johns. WABE's Denis O'Hayer put those questions to some of the officials at the news conference.
