90.1 WABE adds BBC World Service Newshour

Atlanta, Ga:   Beginning Monday, October 15, 2012, 90.1 WABE is adding BBC World Service’s Newshour to its broadcast schedule every weekday at 3PM.   Newshour is BBC World Service’s leading international news and current-affairs program, which broadcasts to audiences in the US and globally. Newshour covers the big breaking-news stories, as well as wider analysis and interviews. Covering stories from a global context, as well as featuring interviews with leading figures, debate and discussion, the program also draws on the expertise of BBC correspondents around the world.

90.1 WABE Chief Operating Officer John Weatherford announced this debut saying, “In response to audience requests for international news, we felt there was no better partnership than one with the BBC.  BBC World Service Newshour offers an understanding of America through the eyes of the rest of the world.”

The addition of BBC World Service Newshour strengthens 90.1 WABE’s existing, robust news coverage from NPR and in-depth reporting of local stories from the award-winning journalists at WABE News Atlanta.

BBC World Service Newshour is distributed by American Public Media.

90.1 WABE is the recipient of 2012 Edward R. Murrow Awards, Associated Press Awards, and Atlanta Press Club awards for journalistic excellence, and is part of the Atlanta Educational Telecommunications Collaborative, Inc.
