The composer's Violin Concerto… on piano?
Atlanta, Ga – Pianist Dejan Lazic is reinventing Brahms with the ASO. The young Croatian-born musician is in town for a series of performances of his own arrangement of the composer's Violin Concerto in D Major? for piano. The piece, which was a collaboration between Brahms and violinist Joseph Joachim, was the composer's only violin concerto and is considered one of the most important works in the violin repertoire.
WABE's Lois Reitzes sat down with Lazic recently to find out what possessed him to transcribe music intended for four strings to his 88 keys.
