Atlanta, GA – “The Green Book” referenced in the title of Theatrical Outfit's current production was an actual book?a travel guide for African Americans published between 1936 and 1964, which aided travelers on where to stay, buy gas, eat and shop during the Jim Crow era.
The show based around the guide is a world premier for Theatrical Outfit and for playwright Calvin Alexander Ramsey. WABE's Lois Reitzes sat down with Ramsey to talk about what the Green Book meant to the scores of African Americans who were travelling by car for the first time.
