Actors express looks at the last days of Oscar Wilde
Atlanta, Ga – Well over a century after Oscar Wilde stood trial on charges of homosexual acts, his life continues to be exposed to the public. Plays, movies, books and websites focus on the complex, tragic story of the literary bad boy of Victorian England. This undying fascination with the life and work of Oscar Wilde and his legacy as a gay martyr is what lead British playwright David Hare to create his historical drama, The Judas Kiss. Atlanta's Actor's Express Theatre is one of the latest companies to stage The Judas Kiss we spoke with the theatre's artistic director, Freddie Ashley, who plays the role of Wilde in the play about bringing the story to the stage.
