Are ‘Sweet Auburn’s’ Best Days Behind It?
Last week, the National Trust for Historic Preservation added Atlanta’s ‘Sweet Auburn’ Historic District to its list of 11 most endangered historic places in the United States. Since Sweet Auburn was first identified at risk by the National Trust 20 years ago, progress has been made in revitalizing the residential portions of the district, but now the organization warns that “inappropriate development” poses a big threat to Sweet Auburn’s languishing commercial section.
