Bi-Plane Pilot
Cal Tax started flying in 1957 at about the age of 14. His father, Al Tax, was a flight instructor in WWII training pilots on this exact type of Stearman Biplane plane in 1941. While it may be a fun plane to fly, Cal says hard to land a ‘tail-dragger’ like this because the main wheels are high and up front. He says it’s kind of like trying to push a wheel barrel down the road at high speed. You’re always working hard to keep it from turning around.
