12 Atlanta Public Schools Educators Cleared of Misconduct In Cheating Scandal
12 Atlanta Public Schools educators are in the clear of any wrong doing related to the district’s massive cheating scandal.
This week APS announced the schools where the educators work but did not release their names.
All were placed on administrative leave because they were initially implicated in the cheating scandal.
Now due to what the district calls “a lack of sufficient evidence to bring cases against them,” APS has reinstated the educators.
They’ll also receive contracts for the upcoming school year.
The educators were informed of the district’s action in a letter.
According to APS, this is the first group of school employees returning to work after being on administrative leave due to the state’s 2011 report on cheating.
However APS also informed the educators the district reserves the right to bring charges against them in the future based on any new evidence that might be discovered.
An investigation is still underway by the Fulton County district attorney’s office.
However, no one has been charged in connection with the cheating.
Of the original 189 educators cited by the state’s investigation, 30 still remain on payroll.
