Georgia Gas Prices Spike Again
Gas prices continue to surge across the country, and Georgia is no exception. The average price for a gallon of regular gas in the state is $3.60. That’s a 9-cent jump from last week. AAA spokesperson Jessica Brady says there are several reasons for the price hike.
“Everything from increased tensions overseas with Iran to domestic supply disruptions, tropical storms, you name it,” Brady says, “It seems like everything has happened and all of this converged and has led to what we’re paying now.”
So what does that say about the overall economy? Jeff Rosensweig is a finance professor at Emory’s Goizuetta Business School.
“The reason gas prices have come down a lot—we worry about it going up say from $3.50 to $3.60—gas prices have come down because the world economy was slowing up a lot,” Rosensweig explains.
The silver lining, he says, is if the world economy continues to slow down, Georgia gas prices will come down as well.
