Newly-Discovered Audio of 1960 Interview with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Later this month, a tape of an interview with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will go to a private sale.  That might not sound too unusual—except for the fact that, until a few months ago, hardly anyone knew this tape existed.   Stephon Tull found the reel-to-reel tape in his father’s attic in Chattanooga.  On it:  his father, interviewing Dr. King; the label said, December 21st, 1960.  The two discussed Dr. King’s recently-completed visit to Africa, and the philosophy of non-violence.   The interview lasted about 10 minutes.  Here is an extended portion of it, provided through the courtesy of the Keya Morgan collection.
