Georgia Gas Prices Stabilize

For the first time in 10 weeks, gas prices in Georgia have stabilized. The average price for a gallon of regular gas in the state $3.81, a four-cent drop from last week. Jessica Brady, a spokesperson for AAA South, says there are several factors at play, including a lack of storm activity in the Gulf of Mexico.

“Gulf refining and production that is pretty much up and running, so that’s a positive,” Brady says, “The summer driving season has passed, so we start to see demand drop off. And lastly, refineries are starting to switch to their winter-blend fuel, which is less-costly to produce, and therefore, that savings is passed on to the consumer.”

Brady says drivers probably won’t see any big price drops in the near future. But, she says, if the price at the pump continues its downward trend, Georgia gas prices could reach the $3.60 mark by the end of September.
