Could Phillips State class serve as a model for prison education reform in GA?
Prison reform has been big news across Georgia in the last year, including a plan proposed last summer by Governor Deal that would emphasize classroom education for nonviolent offenders. As we look back at favorite stories from 2012, we return to one from WABE’s Kate Sweeney—about a series of creative writing and literature courses that have been taking place for some three years at one medium-security prison in Buford, Georgia.
