Georgians Urged to Take Advantage of Free Tax Preparation Program

With just over a month until the April 15 tax deadline, Georgia Congressman Tom Price visited Chamblee Monday to encourage eligible Georgians to take advantage of a free tax preparation program.

Congressman Price urged Georgians to take advantage of the IRS and Georgia Free File Program. The program allows taxpayers who make $57,000 or less to file their state and federal taxes online for free.

“People need to be able to keep all the money that’s due to them and sometimes that’s difficult and confounding and difficult to determine and Free file gets individual the claims, deductions and …that they are due.”

Price made the comments while speaking at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Atlanta. The nonprofit organization is one of more than 40 Volunteer Tax Assistance Centers in Metro Atlanta.

Price says those eligible can either go to centers for free tax preparation help or use the online Free File Program.  More information on the Free File Program is at www.taxprephelp.org.
