GA 400 Tolls to End by Thanksgiving
State transportation officials are hoping to end the tolls on Georgia 400 by Thanksgiving.
Governor Nathan Deal said earlier this year that the tolls would stop at the end of 2013, but the Department of Transportation has moved up the schedule.
According to G-DOT spokeswoman Jill Goldberg, “That will give us a little bit of time to get the road reconfigured there and remove the toll booth construction. And we want to do this and cut down on some of the impact with the Christmas shopping. So that’s why the decision has been made to do it a little bit earlier than we thought.”
Goldberg says G-DOT hopes to have the toll booths torn down and all lanes reconfigured by Christmas if the weather and other factors allow.
