There’s an ongoing investigation within the Atlanta Public Schools regarding missing iPads.

According to district spokesperson Steve Alford, sometime last year the iPads he ordered went missing.

“I don’t know the exact date, but I can tell when we began to distribute the iPads and we went through each of the list iPads that we ordered, we realized we were missing ten.”

The iPads were among a batch of 85 ordered for APS communication specialists.

Alfords calls the alleged iPad thefts unfortunate and disturbing.

He told WABE an investigation is underway, but would not give details as to the exact procedures for checking in and tracing deliveries to the district.

“I’m just as interested as anyone to find out exactly what happen because that money came out of our budget. It was supposed to go directly to our communication ambassadors who work tirelessly every day to try communicate more effectively to our parents.”

Alford says a police report was made and the iPads have been replaced.

This isn’t the first time the district has had to investigate missing electronics.

A few years ago, it was revealed the district couldn’t account for nearly 4-hundred thousand dollars’ worth of equipment.
