According to the Cobb and Douglas Public Health, Cobb and Douglas Counties are experiencing an increase in COVID-19 cases due to the ongoing spread of the Delta and omicron variants.

On Thursday, Cobb Commission Chairwoman Lisa Cupid extended the county’s pandemic state of emergency declaration to mid-February.

This all comes as Cobb County Schools District Superintendent Chris Ragsdale announced that the district is ending COVID contact tracing.

On Friday’s edition of “Closer Look,” David Chastain, the chair of the Cobb County Board of Education, talked with program host Rose Scott about the school district’s ongoing response amid the pandemic and what the school board is doing to keep educators, students and staff safe.
