Be Prepared for Heinous Weekend Traffic

It’s the weekend.  It’s Atlanta. And that means construction delays.

“Get used to it.  There will always be projects going on,” says Georgia Dept. of Transportation spokeswoman Jill Goldberg.

Sure, you might get a break along your route here and there. 

But with so many roads blanketing metro Atlanta, and so many cars using them, Goldberg says there’s almost always constant weekend construction.  

“We get a lot of economic development from our great location, but we also have to constantly do maintenance projects, repair projects, repaving, and just preserve our assets,” she says. 

In the meantime, drivers who want to preserve their sanity will avoid the Downtown Connector, where three lanes in each direction will close.  

And that’s just the beginning. 

In all, about 25 construction projects promise to screw up most weekend travel.
