Georgia’s Political Parties, and What Ails Them: A Talk with GSU’s Steve Anthony

The weekend of June 22, 2013, Georgia Republican leaders will gather to vote on some resolutions left undecided at their recent state convention.  

Some of the resolutions, including one that would replace primaries with nominating conventions, have exposed divisions within the GOP.  

Meanwhile, Georgia’s Democratic Party is without money, a chairman, and a deep bench of candidates.  

To get an idea of what’s ailing the state’s political parties, WABE’s Denis O’Hayer spoke with Steve Anthony, a lecturer in political science at Georgia State University, and a former executive director of the state Democratic Party.
