Alice Walker
The Color Purple is Eatonton, Georgia native Alice Walker’s third novel. It was published in 1982 and later adapted into a film–garnering 11 Academy Award nominations–as well as a Broadway musical, originally produced by Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre in 2004.
