Stay of Execution for Warren Lee Hill, Jr.: A Talk with WABE Legal Analyst Page Pate

Elly Yu/WABE News

On Monday, July 15, 2013, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Gail Tusan granted a stay of execution to Georgia death row inmate Warren Lee Hill, Jr.

He had been scheduled to die by lethal injection at 7 p.m. that evening.

The judge granted the stay so she could hold a hearing on Thursday, July 18, on the defense challenge to the state process for obtaining the execution drug.

The defense is also challenging a new law which allows state officials to keep much of that process secret.

WABE legal analyst Page Pate, an Atlanta criminal defense attorney, spoke with WABE’s Denis O’Hayer.
