Empty Stocking Fund Looking for Location
Atlanta’s Empty Stocking Fund is hoping for an early Christmas present.
The long-time charity, which has helped low-income families find presents at discounted rates for nearly nine decades, needs to find a space to hold its annual holiday event.
Last year, the organization held its drive at the Old Bishop Brothers auction facility, but that’s not available to the group this December. An audio version of this story.
“So we’re reaching out to the public and we’re hoping someone out there will help us find a space and help us make all these holiday dreams come true,” says executive director Manda Hunt.
She says this is the latest in the year the organization has gone without a reserved location.
The deadline to get a spot is November 1.
If one isn’t found by then, the organization would have to come up with a Plan B.
“There’s no question that metro Atlanta families in need this holiday season would be faced with additional pressure, because we would not be able to serve everyone,” says Hall.
The Empty Stocking Fund, which only has two full-time employees, provides presents to more than 50,000 children throughout metro Atlanta ever year.
