Health Care Exchanges Open: Part 1 with Blue Cross/Blue Shield of GA President Morgan Kendrick
Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Georgia is the biggest of the five insurers participating in Georgia's federally-run health insurance marketplace, called an exchange. It's a key part of the Affordable Care Act, often called Obamacare.
Consumers visit a website, where they can compare and purchase healthcare insurance plans, and find out if they're eligible for subsidies.
Just a few days into the rollout of the exchange, the president of BCBS Georgia said it's too early to say for sure whether things are going well or not.
In Part 1 of a conversation with WABE's Denis O'Hayer, Morgan Kendrick also talked about the politics surrounding the exchange and the signup process.
