Problems Persist with Obamacare Website

Signing up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act is still proving to be a challenge for some Georgians.

Consumers trying to sign up for coverage hit roadblocks when the healthcare.gov website opened last Tuesday. And they were roadblocks that navigators, the people trained to help consumers, could not break.

Navigator Marcus Jordan says he’s been going to the website every day — at all times of day — to try to get through so he will know what to tell people when they call.

So far, Jordan's best advice: “Even if you were to sign up today you couldn’t get healthcare until the first of the year, so I just tell them to wait and be patient, and hopefully it will be fixed in due time.”

The federal government reportedly took the website down over the weekend for repairs, but as of late Monday, problems persisted.

Jordan says his office, Family Health Centers of Georgia in West End, has gotten at least thirty calls from people asking for help. And he wants to help them…just as soon as he is able to get into the website.
