Holiday Hiring Expected to Remain the Same
With the holiday shopping season just around the corner, retailers have already started recruiting additional employees. But this year, Georgia retail experts expect seasonal hiring to remain static.
The Georgia Retail Association expects retailers to add a total of between $10,000 to $15,000. John Fleming is spokesman for the association. He says that represents a strong hiring season but is about the same number as last year.
“I think there is a bit of caution in the retail industry right now. We seem to have been establishing a trend of growth over a couple of years now. I think retailers are ultimately looking for that growth to continue before their confident enough to add on that staff.”
However, some individual stores will increase their hiring this holiday season. A spokesperson for Macy’s tells WABE it’s planning a nearly four percent increase in the number of seasonal workers throughout Georgia.
