GA-400 Lane Shifting Work Begins Tonight

Work begins tonight on the first phase of taking down the toll plaza on Georgia Highway 400. Crews will be working overnight tonight and Saturday to shift lanes.

The biggest change you will see right away applies to the Peach Pass Lanes.

Bert Brantley of the State Road and Tollway Authority says, by Monday morning, crews will have shifted those lanes by two feet. “You’re going through the same area, just like you are now, using the Peach Pass,” says Brantley.  ”It’s just a little minor shift over to the left, and then that will create enough room to the right that we can actually create a third lane there between now and when tolls end.”

Brantley says the green light that shows you have paid with your Peach Pass won’t be there anymore, but your account will still be deducted 50 cents.

That will all end the week before Thanksgiving, when the state will stop collecting the tolls altogether.
