Some Thanksgiving Travelers Facing Winter Storm Delays
Those flying in and out of Georgia the day before Thanksgiving may experience some delays and that’s because of a winter storm headed to the northeast.
WABE’s Rose Scott reports how that could affect Atlanta air travelers.
Perhaps not all of this Thanksgiving holiday week’s expected 1.8 million passengers will encounter flight delays.
In fact getting to your departure gate may be quick says Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson airport spokesperson.
“Right now we’re not anticipating any long security wait times”, said McCranie.
That was on Tuesday.
McCranie says there’s an expected increase in the number of travelers coming through the world’s busiest airport.
But depending on your destination, getting there could be filled with delays or cancellations.
Delta Airlines has already issued northeast winter weather advisory on it’s website for Thanksgiving eve.
That includes destinations to, from and throughout Baltimore, Boston, New York (Kennedy and LaGuardia airports), Philadelphia and the two Washington D.C airports.
Meanwhile, here in Georgia, meteorologist Alex Gibbs says the rain will eventually move out however, Thanksgiving will cold, breezy yet sunny.
Those living north of Atlanta could see a dusting of some snow with a little mixture of rain, but around here, don’t go making plans to build a snowman.
