APS Officials Say Some Grady Parents Guilty of Address Fraud

Officials with the Atlanta Public Schools say they have conclusive evidence of address fraud at Grady High School following an investigation.
The investigation was prompted by allegations that some parents were falsifying their addresses so their children could attend the Midtown high school.
The accusations specifically applied to members of Grady’s winning football team.
APS says they have confirmed parents falsified enrollment affidavits for students who live outside Grady’s attendance zone, and in some cases, outside the city of Atlanta.
The district says players who were fraudulently enrolled will be required to leave the school, and parents who falsified affidavits could have to reimburse APS for tuition up to $10,000 per school year.
School system officials say the investigation is ongoing and will continue after winter break, which ends January 7.
