He’s Coming, But When Will Santa Claus Arrive in Georgia?

NORAD

The Christmas Eve forecast for the metro area is cold but clear.

And as WABE’s Rose Scott reports, it’s perfect weather for one jolly ole fella.

If you’re on the good list, Santa will take care of you.

But he’ll need a little help from his friends at the North America Aerospace Defense Command or simply NORAD.

They’re responsible for making sure Santa has clearance throughout his journey.

Captain Jennifer Stadnyk is in her first year working public affairs for NORAD.

Her shift started early this morning.

“I came in at four  and I’m here for most of the day,” says Stadnyk.

Tracking Santa began in 1955 after a misprint on an advertisement listed a military phone number as Santa’s hotline.

But don’t be misled by any other entity claiming to track St. Nick says Capt. Stadnky, NORAD is the official Santa Tracker.

“We haven’t seen any delays on his trip yet, so we expect he’ll probably be in Georgia between nine and midnight local time.”
