Christmas Tree Reefs in Lake Allatoona

This late into January, most folk’s Christmas trees have long-since been hauled off by the city or gone into the chipper.

But just north of Atlanta, the Army Corps of Engineers along with The Georgia Department of Natural Resources and Keep Bartow Beautiful have been giving Christmas trees a second life in a program that’s been going on for over a decade… putting the trees in Lake Allatoona to create fish habitats.

WABE’s Myke Johns took a trip to the lake and has this story.
