Conventioneers Weather the Atlanta Storm
Millions of metro Atlantans weathered this week’s storm, and so did thousands more from out of town.
The International Production and Processing Expo, which hosts egg and poultry producers from all over the world, expected 28,000 visitors this week.
Even with the storm, 24,000 managed to get to Atlanta before the storm hit according to the event’s general manager, Charles Oletine.
He says the show went off without a hitch thanks in large part to the staff at the Georgia World Congress Center. “A lot of the support staff, down here at the GWCC, a lot of them ended up spending the night here,” said Olentine. “And, you know, there was a smaller staff. But they all pitched in, and they got the job done.”
Olentine says this is the 66th year the Expo has been held in Atlanta, and some kind of winter weather event seems to hit the Expo every decade or so.
