Governor’s New Weather Task Force Gets to Work

Gov. Nathan Deal’s new Severe Winter Weather Warning Preparedness Task Force met officially for the first time today.

Deal is looking for long-term recommendations from the group, which is comprised of leaders from state and local governments, business, education, and law enforcement as well as local meteorologists.

“We do think that you each have perspectives on part of the overall solution,” Deal said as he welcomed the 33-member task force. “And we certainly don’t want you to be hesitant to share your opinions and your comments.”

The group will issue its recommendations to the governor within 60 days. He created the task force after heavy criticism over the state’s response to late January’s snowstorm.
