I-85/GA 400 Flyover Ramps Open Today
The “flyover” lanes connecting Interstate 85 and Georgia Highway 400 open to the public today.
Governor Nathan Deal, former Atlanta mayor and Buckhead Coalition President Sam Massell and other officials cut a ceremonial ribbon on the southbound ramp this afternoon. The Georgia Department of Transportation (G-DOT) hopes to have the ramps open by 5 p.m.
G-DOT estimates that more than 32,000 cars will use the ramps each day.
Construction on the lanes began in early 2012. The $21 million project was supposed to be finished by the end of last year, but weather delayed it.
