Reed Says Turner Field Area Is Attracting Developers

But he said the area’s redevelopment isn’t keeping him up at night.

“I’m completely calm about Turner Field. We have very nice options,” said Reed. “We could sell Turner Field right now.”

He wouldn’t elaborate on details or what the offers envision for the area. He said Georgia State University is one of the parties that have shown  ”some interest.”

As he did when the Braves made their surprise relocation announcement in November, Reed said the communities surrounding Turner Field will ultimately benefit from the move.

“In no uncertain terms, their future is brighter than it is right now,” said Reed. “I’m going to prove that the decision we made not to pay between $150-250 million and put it on a credit card without a revenue stream to support it was the right decision for the city of Atlanta.”

He did say whatever the redevelopment plan, the statue of Hank Aaron hitting his record 715^th homerun will remain in its current location.
