Ethics Complaints Move Forward Against Ellis, Boyer, County Staffers
The DeKalb Ethics Board will move forward with complaints against County Commissioner Elaine Boyer and suspended CEO Burrell Ellis.Broadcast Version
The board approved investigation of two different complaints against Ellis. One relates to the criminal corruption case against him. The other alleges Ellis conspired with Director of Finance Joel Gottlieb and then-Director of Watershed Management Francis Kung’U to prevent accurate reading of water use at a condominium complex in Clarkston.
The board’s attorney will also probe complaints against Commissioner Elaine Boyer and her executive assistant, Bob Lundsten, over their use of county purchasing cards.
Attorney John Ernst, a Brookhaven resident who serves as Acting Chair of the newly reconstituted ethics board, told WABE, “I don’t think any one of us realized the amount of stuff that would be coming our way in such high profiles. But what I can tell you is we will diligently look at all complaints and seek the truth on the matters. You know, let the chips fall where they may.”
The board also approved investigation of complaints against suspended county staffers Nina Hall and Kelvin Walton in relation to the criminal case against their former boss, Burrell Ellis.
