New Drawings of Braves Stadium Released
The Atlanta Braves today released six new conceptual renderings of their planned new stadium in Cobb County, which can be seen above.
In a press release, Braves president John Schuerholz noted that these are not the final designs. “This is a very early look at how our vision is shaping up and, even though we are still months away from final plans and drawings, we are very pleased with the progress.”
Schuerholz added, “The renderings represent the sense of place we intend to create 365 days a year in addition to a world-class ballpark.”
According to these renderings, the stadium the Braves are envisioning would seat 41,500 people, making the new stadium several thousand seats smaller than Turner Field. The planned 90-foot roof would be three times as large as the roof at Turner Field, and air conditioning is planned for every level.
The Braves emphasize that the existing topography of the new site is being incorporated into the design of the stadium and surrounding development to provide greenspace for what they call a “park-like setting in an urban environment.” The adjacent development will include residences, a boutique hotel, and office space. There will be a one-acre water feature, and the accompanying text says that fountains on the property “will perform after a Braves home run or victory.”
