The latest quotes from insurance agency Insurify find that driving in the Peach State isn’t always so peachy.

Georgia drivers pay some of the highest insurance premiums in the nation. The pricey rates have become a center-point campaign issue in the contest for Georgia’s insurance commissioner as the state’s primary election nears.

Drawing from a database of more than 4 million car insurance applications, the Insurify team crunched some numbers. Analysts found on average, Georgians are paying between 35 to 55 percent more for coverage compared to the typical American driver.

Insurify research lead Emily Leff told WABE that when you convert that into real money, that can be up to $1,500 more per year.
