Atlanta-Based Crooner Douglas Cameron Swings
Music has always been a part of Douglas Cameron’s life.
“My sister was a concert pianist, my Dad played piano. My grandmother and my aunt and my grandfather played piano for silent movies,” he said.
Cameron followed suit, hitting the road at the age of 15 with a band that was touring the Southeast.
After about three-decades of playing rock, Cameron switched gears and started singing big band music.
“The transition was scary, very scary. But, you know, I managed it. By the second show I was on point, but the first show was scary. Scary,” Cameron said.

Cameron does at least 250 shows a year, many of them in the metro Atlanta area.
His idols include Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Junior … and of course, the “Chairman of the Board,” Frank Sinatra.
“You know, Frank pretty much belted it out. He didn’t have to dance or sing or cut flips. He hit the mic and it was over. All the other singers had to sit down and listen,” Cameron said.
Cameron of Marietta was recently named the Male Vocalist of the Year and the National Crooner of the Year by the L.A. Music Awards.
