The Atlanta Braves were at the White House Monday as President Joe Biden honored the club for their 2021 World Series victory.
The visit came as this year’s regular season winds down.
With Braves players, coaches and their manager looking on, Biden recounted the team’s improbable run last year: sneaking into the playoffs before beating the Brewers and Dodgers to advance to the World Series.
“And then you beat the Astros to win it all, forever known as the ‘Upset Kings of October’,” said Biden.
The Braves presented Biden with a team jersey with his name and the uniform number 46 on the back.
Atlanta has already clinched a playoff spot this year, but still has aspirations of a division title and more, said Braves’ chairman Terry McGuirk.
