On the “City Lights” series “Speaking of the Arts,” local artists share insights into their influences, processes and experiences in town. Sean Fahie is an illustrator and author living in Atlanta. Both in writing and through his watercolor and acrylic painting, Fahie tells stories — “whether that comes from a silly story in my mind, or from a conversation with a friend over a little night cap,” he says.
Born and raised in St. Croix, Fahie began his journey in art at an early age, following his passion with a goal of making a career. Today, he provides murals and graphic design for many Atlanta landmarks, including a design for WABE’s own “WABE Everywhere” campaign. Recurring themes in his work include stylized portraiture with exaggerated but approachable character features, bold solid colors and eye-catching typography.
“Atlanta definitely has influenced my art from just the people and the music and the attitude,” said Fahie. “It is dope. It’s a very ‘go get it’ kind of city, and that style of energy and living influences me heavily.”
He shouts out Peter Street Station, Cat Eye Creative and ABV Gallery among the places he goes to take in art around the city.
