Staci Fox, the president and CEO of the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute (GBPI), a nonprofit organization that analyzes tax policies and proposed budgets in Georgia, says Georgia and Wyoming have the lowest minimum wage in the country at $5.15 an hour.
“At GPBI, we really want the state to be focused on putting people over profits, putting people over corporations,” said Fox on Thursday’s edition of “Closer Look.”
Fox made the comment after show host Rose Scott asked about her thoughts about Gov. Brian Kemp’s remarks during his inauguration speech to create more high-paying jobs in Georgia.
Fox further explained that it’s good to be the best place to do business—but the bigger question is if Georgia is a good place for workers.
“The legislature needs to be focused on policy that lifts up all Georgians,” she explained.
