Luz López, the senior supervising attorney for the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Immigrant Justice Project, says Black migrants are denied asylum despite meeting the qualifications for asylum.
“We have numerous studies that show Black immigrants face the highest rates of asylum denials,” said Lopez on Monday’s edition of “Closer Look.”
Lopez further explained that Black migrants are often transported to some of the largest detention centers in the south before being deported back to unsafe conditions in their home country.
