The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership has a new leader.

Rob Brawner was named the organization’s new executive director. He’s been with the group since it started a decade ago.

“As much as has been done in these first 10 years, we have a whole lot more to do,” Brawner said.

The partnership is the fundraising arm for the BeltLine and it plans to kick off what it calls a “significant capital campaign” within the next few months.

No dollar goal has been set yet.

The funds raised will be used to buy land needed to close the loop and develop existing parks and trails.

Brawner said private sector support is strong.

“Not only from philanthropy and philanthropic investments have been strong, we’re actually starting to see, you know, commercial property owners … they understand that the BeltLine creates a better quality of life, so we’ve been working with them,” said Brawner.

Atlanta City Council Member Kwanza Hall said he’s happy with the progress he’s seen over the past few years and believes the future will go smoothly.

“This is not easy work, but it’s so rewarding that the wins that we are making and the positive strides encourage us all to just want to be on the same page,” Hall said.

The 22-mile project should be complete by 2030.
