Spring is in the air, and we’re beginning to see glimpses of buds and blossoms as nature emerges from its winter slumber. A popular nontraditional Western holiday that celebrates Spring is Holi, a Hindu observance often called the festival of colors. Holi is an ancient Spring festival observed by Hindus around the world, and it’s all about celebrating the divine love of Radha and Krishna with singing, dancing, and lots of powdered paint! Chef Palak Patel, owner of the restaurant ‘Dash and Cutney,’ joined Lois via zoom. In this interview, Chef Patel discusses the festival, its cuisine, customs, and what to wear when attending celebrations.
“Be prepared to get colorful, and wear white, so you can really show that you participated and really celebrated the holiday,” says Patel.
