Fulton County Launches New Early Voting Website

Early voting begins on Monday, Oct. 17. To prepare, Fulton County has launched a new early voting website.

Dwight Brower is Fulton County’s election chief. Brower said the website will help with cutting down on long lines.

“We had no wait time that the public could access before,” Brower said. “Now anyone that has access to the computer before they go to the poll, they can actually see the estimated wait time. It’s just another tool that the citizen voters have.”

Poll managers will update wait times of more than 20 minutes on the website every hour using a smartphone app. The website also uses GPS technology to direct voters to the closest early voting location.

This year, Fulton County is opening 12 new early voting sites at senior centers as well as Georgia State University, Georgia Tech and Atlanta Metropolitan State College.

They will stay open for two days each, while 24 permanent designated early voting centers will stay open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday to Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

Some Fulton County voters say they’ve received precinct cards directing them to incorrect precinct, but Brower said he has not heard of these reports.

“In prior years, we’ve had some issues with precinct cards but we have not had that issue this year to the best of my knowledge,” Brower said.

He said people should check the My Voter Page to make sure they’re registered to vote and are going to the correct precinct on Nov. 4.

For early voting, citizens can vote at any early polling location in the county.

Update 2:30 p.m.: Fulton County has released a statement regarding a mailing for early voting. You can read the statement below.

In an effort to inform voters of their correct polling place, we proactively sent a Head of Household mailing with early voting and Election Day information. The mailings were intended to go to an address rather than a specific person. About 8% of mailings were mistakenly forwarded if a change of address had been filed with USPS within the last four years, according to our vendor. We are working with our vendor to mail letters to the households that did not receive the mailing.
