In the rich lore of Georgia music history, much has been said, cherished and revisited from the groundbreaking indie and alternative scene of Athens, home of the B-52s, Pylon, R.E.M., Love Tractor, the Elephant 6 collective, Kindercore records — the list goes on. But one treasure that almost slipped through the cracks is the brief and brilliant moment of the band Limbo District.
Recently rediscovered by the Chunklet Music Preservation Project, the band was once captured in the short film “Carnival.” This little-known movie is screening along with never-before-seen footage at the Plaza Theatre on Aug. 2, followed by a panel discussion and exhibition.
In this interview, “City Lights” senior producer Kim Drobes speaks with former Limbo District member Kelly Crow, along with Love Tractor member Mark Cline and Chunklet Music Preservation Project co-founder Stephanie Jackson.
