A $100,000 study — produced by transportation and engineering consultants Gresham Smith and Partners, Sprinkle Consulting and VHB — suggests the Perimeter Community Improvement Districts, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody and Brookhaven undertake a wide range of projects.
According to this week’s Atlanta Business Chronicle, those projects include pedestrian bridges, multi-use paths and streetscaping to new transit links to existing MARTA stations.
The recommended projects would have two main objectives, according to the report: “to provide safe, comfortable non-automobile options for short-distance trips within the Perimeter area; and to make it easier and more convenient for people to take advantage of existing transit service for travel between the Perimeter area and other destinations.
Projects in the Sandy Springs portion of Perimeter Center, which is located in Fulton County, may get a jump-start on improvements in Dunwoody and Brookhaven, which are in DeKalb. Fulton voters approved a transportation sales tax last fall projected to raise about $570 million during the next five years.
